This attic in Washougal, WA was missing a lot of insulation on the attic deck, making the home below uncomfortably cold. After removing the old insulation and sealing the air leaks, our insulation team blew in TruSoft™ cellulose to the Higher R-60 level.
To get their attic up to code, this owner chose our company to blow in TruSoft™ cellulose into the attic to raise the level up to the R-49 code level.
To help make this Vancouver, WA home more comfortable and energy efficient, sealing and insulating was needed in the attic. It was at an R-30 level, yet code for our area is now R-49, and R-60 is highly suggested.
To make this higher insulation level perform at its best, first the old insulation was removed. This allowed our crew access to seal where there were air leaks. Six lights were covered with can light covers; light fixtures leak a lot of conditioned air from inside the house into the attic.
The crew then blew in to the higher R-60 level TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. It is make of newsprint and treated with borate so critters do not like to use it as nesting material. The final step was to air seal and insulate the scuttle cover to the attic. All of these steps together have made for a much more comfortable home to live in!
To make their home more comfortable year-round, these Gladstone, OR homeowners chose our experts to remove all the old insulation, air seal the leaks, and re-install insulation by blowing in TruSoft™ cellulose to the higher R-60 value.
This BEFORE photo shows the low levels of insulation in this attic, plus an effort to “plug” the air leaks with pieces of batting.
To properly insulate this home, our crew removed all the old insulation, sealed the leaks properly, and then blew in TruSoft™ cellulose. This puts a nice snug “blanket” in the attic to keep these homeowners warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
