Challenge:
The owner had lived in this house for 30 years, and all of a sudden there were rodents making a mess in the attic! She found us online and called to schedule her appointment.
Solution:
As we usually find in attics, it was under-insulated with fiberglass. Fiberglass is not the best insulting material, and for rodents it’s a GREAT bedding material (photo 1). Our inspector also found a potential place where rats could be getting in (photo 2).
Instead of just re-insulating with fiberglass, this owner understood why closed-cell spray foam would be her long-term, more effective solution. Our insulation team removed all the old, dirty fiberglass and then sprayed the underneath of the roof deck (AFTER photo) with spray foam.
Now there was no more nesting material for rodents, and she has the added bonus of her home being more comfortable to live in now that it is properly insulated.
